The Academic are an Irish Indie Rock band. They debuted in 2018 with their studio album Tales From The Backseat.

Sitting Pretty will be their second release and was recorded alongside producer Nick Hodgson (Dua Lipa, Mark Ronsoand) at Snap Studios in London. Building outwards, the record is a real coming-of-age narrative, switching between youthful confidence and anxiety. The album is a statement of the band ready to announce themselves properly, far beyond the Irish neighborhoods that already claim them as hometown heroes.

‘Pushing Up Daises’ is the first single from the record, a punchy, incisive return. “’Pushing Up Daisies’ is our ode to insecurity and ego in equal measure,” the band say. “It tackles the hectic nature of our current circumstances. The ecstatic highs and the unbearable lows of life in you twenties.”
