This album is considered to have revolutionized merengue music, making it a popular subgenre of Latin music, and the album brought Crespo international recognition in the merengue market. It was the first merengue record certified gold in the U.S.A.. The single "Suavemente" was a huge hit and eventually helped him earn the Best Male Tropical/Salsa Album of the Year from Billboard magazine. His album went platinum in the Venezuelan and Central American markets and gold in Chile. The album spawned three more hit singles: “Tu Sonrisa”, “Luna Llena” and “Nuestra Canción”.
