GRAVE was a Krautrock band formed in the 70s by teenage musicians in Brinkum, a suburb of the German city of Bremen. Their only album from 1975, NR. 1 (GRAVE 1), was released as a self-released album in a limited run of 100 copies at the time, and the original LP is now extremely rare. In 2024, their vinyl reissue was released by Sommor, a label under Guerssen in Spain!

Recorded in one take at a makeshift studio in a local youth center using only a tape recorder and two microphones, this is a rehearsal-style album that is full of private feeling. Unusually for a mid-70s band, this is garage/psych rock with a simple arrangement and structure, centered around the rough twin guitars and vocals of Lutz Wowerat (vo/g) and Wolfgang Kiesler (g). To be honest, it's not that great in terms of originality, but the carefully crafted songs, raw performance, and dark, melancholic melodies typical of German rock will appeal to enthusiasts, making this a beloved minor album to keep in the back of your mind!
